use of quantitative electroencephalography as a marker of severity of patients with autism spectrum disorder

Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental with increasing prevalence over the past years. Its grading depends on time-consuming Scales like CARS, ADOS and GARS scales. Our aim to study if quantitative EEG can be used as marker of ASD severity. This cross sectional conducted in period from September 2021 till March 2022. It included 53 patients (41 males and12 females, age ranging between 3 12 years) diagnosed by an experienced psychiatrist according DSM5 criteria. Patients were recruited 4 autism centers Al-Hillah city. All assessed history, physical examination Gilliam rating scale (GARS 3). Then they undergo electroencephalographic recording awake state. The results showed that spectral power delta wave both total regional significantly increased severity symptoms increased, while alpha was decreased ASD. Beta theta unchanged.
